5. phoebe and jordan’s wedding

Our original wedding website, which I had not previously linked to the public, was phoebeeating.com/phoebeweddingjordan. If you’re searching for pictures, try the pro photo set or facebook photo set from flickr.

6. “but we’ve decided not to accept it for publication”

Sucks when that happens, doesn’t it? If someone just turned down your writing, which I’m sure was brilliant, I’d suggest the blog Literary Rejections on Display. Always makes me feel better.

13. abramson mfa rankings poets and writers

Frankly, I prefer these rankings.

14. advice about writing samples for the mfa in poetry and 28. poetry portfolio editor mfa

As always, I’m happy to talk to prospective MFA applicants about my experiences in my MFA program. If I have time (unlikely, in November, thanks to nanowrimo, but you can try), I might be even willing to talk writing samples. Shoot me an email!

15. alien nation dark horizon stupid

Well, I don’t know. I thought the movie was aight. My review on the book is here at goodreads.

17. comments dunham mfg and 18. dunham manufacturing class rings

I was exceedingly happy with my class ring from Dunham MFG and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anybody interested in buying a magical trinket. Pictures of my ring, and my review, are here.

25. phoebe fibing love…

My love is never a fib. My love is always true.

35. what do phoebe’s eat?

You probably mean the bird and it looks like they eat insects. But in case you mean human Phoebes, this one eats lots of stuff. For food-related blog entries, try the following tags: food, eating in, eating out.

The One Where I Talk About You

Posted on 07/17/09 by Phoebe 3 Comments

I hate it when people who blog (bloggers) talk about what they know about their visitors via sitemeter statistics. “I know you’re watching me!” they screech. “I know who you are!”

But, a hypocrite, I am; I’m about to do just that.

Via google analytics I take (lazy) stock of my visitors to the site. Factors that I think might have something to do with influencing the number of visits–blog posts, metafilter posts–make little difference, it seems. I average about four hundred visits a month, consistently.

The vast majority of visitors type in my URL directly to get to the site (am I the only person on the planet who uses a RSS feed?). A good majority of the remainder reach me through metafilter. Hi, mefites! Can’t wait to meet you tomorrow!

Last month, my visitors came from seven countries–the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Brazil, Sweden (!), and South Korea (!). I had visits from 26 states last month, with (unsurprisingly) Florida, New Jersey, and Connecticut–hi Tiff!–taking a clear and understandable lead. 90 of the Floridian visits came from Gainesville.

For the readers who found me through google, here are their search terms:

  • 1. phoebeeating
  • 2. betsy lerner
  • 3. collage eating rings
  • 4. day of descent alien nation
  • 5. dunham manufacturing class rings customer experiences
  • 6. jostens unicorn ring
  • 7. phoebe eating bees (!!)
  • 8. phoebe eats
  • 9. phoebe in nice writing
  • 10. phoebe north
  • 11. phoebe token pics
  • 12. phoebe’s drumsticks
  • 13. weddingporn
  • 14. phoebeeating.com nude (naughty googler!)

So I know people are reading. And I know something about your interests–based on locale, perhaps, I have some suspicion of who you are. But who are you?

Because you know, every time someone writes one of those kvetchy sitemeter posts, it seems that they’re complaining that people are reading. My philosophy is, I put it on this website; it’s yours! But I’d always rather have a dialog rather than a monologue. So, I know you’re here. Say hello!

I just discovered that my site looked totally borked in IE due to a typo in my blogger template, probably for months now.

Gee, guys, thanks for telling me!
